Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent success in integrating various smart devices into my home. I’ve been working on this project for a while, and it’s finally coming together beautifully!
I started by setting up a central hub to manage all my devices. I decided on the Ring integration for security, which I’ve heard is reliable. To my relief, it works seamlessly with my other devices, even without constant internet—though I always recommend having a stable connection for optimal performance.
One of my main goals was to create a smooth automation routine. I wanted my lights and music to adjust based on the time of day and occupancy. After some trial and error, I managed to set up a system where my lights dim in the evening and my favorite playlist starts playing as I get home from work. It’s such a cozy feeling!
I also faced a challenge with my Shelly devices and MQTT integration. Initially, their power consumption counters reset whenever there was a power outage. I discovered that adjusting the MQTT settings to disable Clean Session helped retain the data. Now, I can monitor my energy usage consistently, which is a huge plus!
I’d love to hear about your experiences integrating different devices or any tips you have for creating seamless automations. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other create smarter homes!
Cheers to a well-connected home! ![]()
