Successfully Integrated Wyze Cameras with Local Storage

Recently, I’ve been working on setting up my Wyze cameras to record locally using flash drives. I have 3 cameras at home and 2 at my cabin, all on the same account. During the trial period, everything was recording to the cloud just fine. I added a flash drive to the home module a few days ago, and it started recording locally without any issues. However, when I went up to the cabin to add a flash drive to that module, I encountered a problem where the recordings weren’t being saved. The system kept telling me I needed a subscription, which was frustrating since both modules are on the same account.

After some research and troubleshooting, I realized that the issue might be related to how the cameras were configured. I checked the settings on both modules and noticed that the cabin module wasn’t set up correctly to use the flash drive. I reconfigured the settings, ensuring that the local storage was properly enabled and that the flash drive was correctly recognized by the module. After a few restarts and configuration adjustments, the cabin cameras started recording locally without any issues.

I wanted to share this experience in case others are facing similar problems. It’s important to double-check the settings and ensure that the flash drive is properly formatted and recognized by the Wyze module. If you’re having trouble with local recordings, try resetting the module, reconfiguring the settings, and ensuring that the flash drive is compatible and properly connected. Hopefully, this helps someone else avoid the frustration I went through!

If anyone has any additional tips or experiences with Wyze cameras and local storage, I’d love to hear them. Let’s help each other make the most out of our smart home setups!
