After encountering some challenges with my Aqara FP2 motion and light sensors, I wanted to share my experience and solution in case others are facing similar issues. Initially, both sensors were working seamlessly with my Home Assistant setup. However, after a recent update, one of the sensors stopped responding entirely. Despite multiple attempts to reset and rebind the sensor, it remained unresponsive through the Aqara app and HomeKit.
Here’s what I did to resolve the issue:
-
Resetting the Sensor: I held down the reset button for over 10 seconds to fully reset the sensor. This step is crucial as it ensures the sensor is in a clean state for reconfiguration.
-
Checking Network Settings: I verified that my Wi-Fi network was using WPA/WPA2 security, which is compatible with the Aqara sensors. Ensuring a stable and secure network connection is essential for smooth operation.
-
Manual Binding Process: Instead of relying on the Aqara app, I attempted to bind the sensor directly through HomeKit. The sensor appeared in the HomeKit list and responded to motion and light changes, indicating that the issue was specific to the Aqara app.
-
Reinstalling the Aqara App: Uninstalling and reinstalling the Aqara app on both my iPhone and iPad helped resolve the binding issue. The sensor was successfully added to the app after this process.
-
Regular Firmware Updates: I schedule regular firmware updates for all my devices to ensure they are running the latest and most stable versions.
This experience taught me the importance of thorough troubleshooting and the value of alternative methods when primary solutions fail. If anyone else is struggling with Aqara sensors, I hope this guide helps you get back on track! ![]()
