Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent success in connecting my August Lock Gen4 to HomeKit without relying on the August service. After some research and troubleshooting, I managed to get everything up and running smoothly. Here’s how I did it:
The Challenge
I’ve always been a fan of integrating smart devices with Apple’s ecosystem, and the August Lock Gen4 seemed like the perfect addition. However, getting it to work through HomeKit wasn’t straightforward. I followed the standard setup process, ensuring the lock was on the same network as my Home Assistant instance. Unfortunately, it didn’t show up in the HomeKit app as expected. I tried resetting the device and重新配置 multiple times, but nothing worked initially.
The Solution
After some digging, I found that manually adding the lock to HomeKit was the key. I used my iPhone to scan for the lock during the initial setup phase. Once added, it seamlessly integrated with Home Assistant through the HomeKit Controller. The process was much simpler than I anticipated!

The Result
