Successfully Integrating Blink Camera and GE C-Reach Hub

I’ve recently completed a home automation project that I’m really excited about! :tada: I’ve managed to integrate my Blink outdoor camera with the GE C-Reach Hub, along with my Sonos speakers, creating a seamless smart home experience. Let me share my journey and some tips for anyone looking to do something similar.

The Challenge:
When I first installed my Blink camera under the overhang of my roof, I noticed an issue with the infrared video at night. The vinyl overhang was causing a blinding white reflection, making it impossible to see anything below. After some research, I decided to install a simple遮光罩 over the camera, and it made a world of difference! Now, I can monitor my property effectively without any glare.

The Integration Process:
Next, I wanted to connect everything to the GE C-Reach Hub. This hub has been a game-changer for me, enabling voice control and out-of-home monitoring. I paired it with my existing C-Life and C-Sleep bulbs, allowing me to control them individually or in groups. The compact size and no-hands pairing feature were huge pluses!

Custom Automations with Sonos:
One of the most exciting parts was setting up custom automations with my Sonos speakers. I wanted the camera to trigger music when it detected motion. Initially, I was frustrated because the only options were to set the volume or mute. After some digging, I found that using the Sonos companion app alongside the SmartThings integration allowed me to create the automation I wanted. Now, whenever the camera detects motion, my Sonos system plays a pre-selected playlist!

Tips for Others:

  • Start Small: Begin with one device or system and gradually add more. This helps identify and troubleshoot issues early.
  • Leverage Community Resources: Forums like this are invaluable. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or share your experiences.
  • Experiment with Automations: Don’t be afraid to try different combinations. Automation can truly enhance your smart home experience.

I’m thrilled with how everything came together and would love to hear about others’ projects or tips for improving this setup! :rocket:
