I recently decided to explore Blue Iris software as an alternative to my current security monitoring setup. After some research, I chose the Wyze Cam v2 camera for its compatibility and decided to test it with Blue Iris. Here’s my journey and some tips for anyone looking to do the same!
Initially, I faced some challenges. I followed the setup steps from Wyze, ensuring RTSP was enabled and generating the correct URL. However, when I tried adding the camera to Blue Iris, I encountered an error: ‘Cam2: No signal.’ This was frustrating, especially since the camera worked perfectly in the Wyze app.
After some troubleshooting, I realized the issue might be with the firewall settings. I adjusted the firewall to allow Blue Iris access and retried the setup. Success! The camera now streams smoothly in Blue Iris.
Tips for Others:
- Ensure your firewall settings allow Blue Iris to communicate with your camera.
- Double-check your RTSP URL for any typos.
- If you’re using a dedicated PC, make sure it’s on the same network as your camera.
This integration has significantly improved my security setup, and I’m excited to explore more features in Blue Iris. If anyone has questions or needs help, feel free to reach out!
