Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts! ![]()
I’ve been on a mission to integrate my Ecowater water softener into Homey, and I’m thrilled to share my success story with you! ![]()
The Challenge:
My Ecowater system, installed by Amysoft, was a mystery in terms of smart home integration. While there’s a HomeAssistant custom component available on GitHub, Homey didn’t have a native app for it. Determined to bridge this gap, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
The Solution:
After some research, I discovered that the HomeAssistant code could potentially be adapted for Homey. With some tweaking and assistance from the community, I managed to create a custom app that reads the device’s data and displays it within Homey!
Key Features Now Available in Homey:
- Real-time monitoring of water usage
- Softener status updates
- Maintenance alerts
How You Can Do It Too:
- Backup First: Always start with a backup of your current setup.
- Familiarize Yourself: Spend time understanding the GitHub codebase for the HomeAssistant component.
- Adapt the Code: Modify the code to fit Homey’s structure and requirements.
- Test Thoroughly: Use the developer tools to ensure everything works as expected.
- Seek Help: Don’t hesitate to ask for advice in the forums if you run into any roadblocks.
Why This Matters:
Having my water softener integrated into Homey means I can now monitor and manage it alongside all my other smart devices. It’s a small but significant step towards a fully connected home!
