Successfully Integrating Fully Kiosk with Google Photos and Solving PushButton MQTT Issues

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experiences and solutions to two challenges I recently faced with my smart home setup. Hopefully, this can help others who might be encountering similar issues!

Integrating Fully Kiosk with Google Photos

I’ve been using Fully Kiosk on my tablet to display various dashboards, but I ran into a problem where background images from Google Photos weren’t loading. After several hours of tweaking settings without success, I stumbled upon a simple yet effective solution. By setting Fully Kiosk’s homepage to Google’s main page and signing in, the background images finally appeared. It was a minor adjustment that made a big difference!

Solving PushButton and MQTT Integration

Another challenge I tackled involved integrating a PushButton with MQTT using Tasmota firmware. My goal was to control multiple devices through a single button, including lights and blinds. Initially, I struggled with the configuration, especially since most resources I found were outdated. However, after experimenting with different command topics and payloads, I managed to set up the automation. The button now sends specific commands to toggle lights progressively and control the blinds with long presses. It’s incredibly satisfying to see everything work seamlessly now!

Lessons Learned

These experiences reinforced the importance of persistence and thorough research. Sometimes, the solution is a small tweak that’s easy to overlook. I’m now more confident in troubleshooting similar issues in the future. If anyone has questions or needs advice on these topics, feel free to reach out!
