Successfully Integrating Google Nest Thermostat with Home Assistant

After struggling with the Nest integration in Home Assistant for several weeks, I finally managed to get everything working smoothly! Here’s my journey and some tips for anyone else facing similar issues.I initially set up the Nest integration using the official Home Assistant add-on, but I kept encountering problems where temperature changes wouldn’t sync properly between Home Assistant and the thermostat. The logs showed no errors, and even manual API calls didn’t resolve the issue. It was frustrating, especially since everything worked fine on the Google Home app. After some research and reaching out to the community, I discovered that the problem might be related to my Google account permissions. I hadn’t enabled the necessary scopes for the Home Assistant integration. Enabling these scopes and ensuring that all authentication tokens were up to date made a huge difference. Here’s what I learned:- Always check your Google account permissions and ensure the correct scopes are enabled.- Regularly update your authentication tokens, especially if you’re using third-party integrations.- Don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for help—someone might have encountered the same issue! Now that everything is working, I’m excited to start creating automations with my Nest thermostat. It’s a relief to have this sorted out, and I’m grateful for the support from the Home Assistant community. If anyone else is having trouble with their Nest integration, feel free to reach out—I’m happy to help!
