Hey everyone,
I wanted to share my recent experience integrating my Hikvision cameras with the Hubitat Elevation system. It’s been a bit of a journey, but I’m thrilled to say it’s now working perfectly!
The Challenge
I recently purchased a C8 Pro and decided to connect my 4 Hikvision cameras. Following the Hubitat documentation, I connected the cameras to the hub, and they appeared in my device list. However, they were showing as inactive, which was puzzling. I later realized the issue might be related to the network setup, as the warning in the documentation mentioned potential subnet conflicts with Hikvision NVRs.
The Solution
After some research and experimentation, I discovered that the cameras were indeed on a separate subnet due to the NVR. To fix this, I adjusted the network settings to ensure the cameras and the hub were on the same LAN. I also reached out to the community for advice, and someone suggested checking the firewall settings on the NVR to ensure they weren’t blocking the connection.
The Outcome
After these adjustments, the cameras are now active and fully integrated into my Hubitat setup. It’s incredible how much smoother my home security system runs with everything connected!
Tips for Others
If you’re facing similar issues, here are a few tips:
- Double-check your network settings to ensure all devices are on the same subnet.
- Review the firewall and port settings on your NVR or router.
- Don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for help—everyone here is super supportive!
It’s amazing how a little troubleshooting can make such a big difference. I’m now fully enjoying the benefits of a seamless home automation setup!
Best regards,
Justin
