Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent success in integrating my Hisense portable air conditioner with Hubitat. It’s been a bit of a journey, but I’m thrilled with the result! 
The Challenge
I’ve always wanted seamless control over my AC, especially since it’s a crucial part of my home setup during the warmer months. After some research, I decided to try integrating it directly into Hubitat without relying on the ConnectLife app. Little did I know, this would turn into a fun DIY project!
The Process
- Discovery: I stumbled upon a post mentioning that Hisense units are Matter-enabled. That was the key! I realized I could bypass the app and connect directly.
- Setup: Following the guide, I learned that pressing the Swing button six times puts the unit into pairing mode. A quick beep and the display showing ‘77’ confirmed it was ready.
- Integration: Using Matter codes, I paired the AC with Hubitat. The setup was straightforward once I knew the right steps.
- Customization: I created a thermostat controller to handle modes and fan settings, which wasn’t directly supported by the driver. It took some tweaking, but now it works perfectly!
Results
Now, I can control my AC through routines, dashboards, and even Apple Home! The best part? No more app dependency. It’s been running smoothly for weeks, and I’ve even shared the guide with a few friends who are now enjoying the same convenience.
