Successfully Integrating Hue and Caseta Dimmers for Seamless Kitchen Lighting

I’ve been on a journey to create the perfect lighting setup in my kitchen, and I’m thrilled to share my experience with the community! :star2:

After experimenting with various configurations, I finally managed to integrate my Caseta dimmers with Hue bulbs using the CoCoHue app. The challenge was getting them to dim in sync, but with some trial and error, I figured it out! Here’s how I did it:

  1. Setup: I installed two plug-in swag pendant lights over my breakfast bar, each equipped with Hue bulbs. These were paired with their own Hue hub.
  2. Automation Rule: I created a Simple Automation rule to trigger the Hue lights when the main kitchen light (controlled by the Caseta dimmer) is turned on. Initially, I could only turn them on and off, but not dim them together.
  3. The Solution: After some research, I discovered that while I couldn’t directly match the dimmer levels, I could set specific brightness levels for the Hue lights based on the Caseta dimmer’s position. This required adjusting the automation rule to account for the dimmer’s position and map it to predefined brightness levels on the Hue bulbs.
  4. Testing: I tested this setup extensively, adjusting the brightness levels to ensure a smooth transition. It took a few tweaks, but it now works seamlessly!

This integration has completely transformed my kitchen lighting experience. The ability to dim the Hue lights in sync with the Caseta dimmer creates a warm and inviting ambiance, perfect for both meal prep and entertaining.

I’m also excited to mention that I recently came across news about Aeotec releasing their versions of SmartThings-compatible devices, including a hub, which is great news for the community! :tada:

If anyone has tips or tricks for further enhancing this setup, I’d love to hear them. Happy automating! :rocket:
