I’m thrilled to share my recent success in integrating my Hunter Douglas shades with Matter! 
As many of you know, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of Matter-compatible devices, and the Hunter Douglas shades were at the top of my list. Here’s my journey and some tips for anyone looking to do the same:
The Setup
After downloading the Matter release from Hunter Douglas, I was excited to see the shades appear in my Devices area under the Home app. The individual windows showed up as child devices, but there was one hiccup—nothing happened when I tried to open or close them. Frustrating, to say the least!
The Fix
After some research and reaching out to the community, I discovered that the issue was with the device’s firmware. Updating it through the Hunter Douglas app resolved the problem! Now, the shades respond perfectly to voice commands and automation rules.
Tips for Others
- Firmware Check: Always ensure your devices are on the latest firmware before setting up Matter.
- Clear Instructions: If you’re new to Matter, take it step by step. The Hunter Douglas app has a great guide to follow.
- Community Support: Don’t hesitate to ask for help here. The community is invaluable!
The Outcome
It’s been a game-changer for my smart home setup. Now, I can control my shades seamlessly from my phone or even through my voice assistant. The integration with Matter has taken my home automation to the next level!
