Successfully Integrating IFTTT with Home Assistant

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience with integrating IFTTT with Home Assistant. It’s been a bit of a journey, but I’m thrilled to say I got it working smoothly!

I started by exploring the old method mentioned in many forums, which involved using a specific URL with an API password. However, I stumbled upon the new integration method and decided to give it a try. At first, it was frustrating because nothing seemed to work—I set up my IFTTT applet, configured the webhook, and everything looked correct, but nothing happened when I triggered it. The logs showed that IFTTT was running without errors, but Home Assistant wasn’t responding. I even checked the logs in Home Assistant, but there was no indication of any issues.

After some research and trial and error, I realized that the new method required a slightly different setup. I adjusted the webhook URL and made sure the API password was correctly integrated. To my delight, it worked on the first try! Now, I can trigger scripts in Home Assistant using Google Assistant, which is incredibly convenient.

This experience taught me the importance of staying updated with the latest integration methods and not being afraid to experiment. I’m now looking forward to exploring more automation possibilities with IFTTT and Home Assistant. If anyone has questions or needs help setting this up, feel free to reach out—I’m happy to share what I’ve learned!

Cheers to the amazing community that makes troubleshooting and learning so much easier! :tada:
