First, I started by setting up my JBL 5.1 sound bar system. It’s been a game-changer for my movie nights, offering crisp audio and deep bass. I wanted to take it a step further by syncing the lighting with the music, so I decided to integrate my smart lights. I use a mix of Philips Hue and Sylvania Smart+ bulbs, which have been fantastic for creating different ambiance settings.
The challenge was ensuring smooth integration between the sound bar and the lighting system. I discovered that using Home Assistant’s media player interface allowed me to control both devices from one place. I set up automations so that when I start a movie, the lights dim automatically, and the sound bar switches to the optimal audio mode. It’s all about that cinematic feel!
