Successfully Integrating Multiple Brands with HomeBridge

I’ve been on a journey to integrate my Raspberry Pi with HomeBridge, and it’s been quite an adventure! For years, I’ve relied on HM-CFG-LAN to connect my older Homematic devices like the HM-Sec-RHS sensors and HM-LC-Sw1-PCB relays. While everything worked smoothly with fhem, I wanted to take the plunge into Apple’s ecosystem with HomeKit.

The initial setup was seamless, but I had some lingering doubts—would my old hardware play nice with HomeBridge? After some research and a bit of trial and error, I’m thrilled to report that it does! My sensors and relays now appear perfectly in the Home app, and automating them has never been easier.

One thing I’d like to share is how crucial it was to ensure all configurations were correctly set up in fhem before migrating. I also discovered that using a stable Wi-Fi connection for the Raspberry Pi made a world of difference in reliability.

If you’re considering this setup, my advice is to take it step by step. Start by testing a few devices to ensure everything communicates properly before fully committing. The satisfaction of seeing all your devices work together seamlessly across platforms is worth every bit of effort!
