Successfully Integrating NissanConnect with Home Assistant

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent success in integrating the NissanConnect system with Home Assistant. After some research and tinkering, I managed to get my 2022 Nissan Leaf (UK) connected, and it’s been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup!

Initially, I stumbled upon an abandoned integration and some community work on the dartnissanconnect library. With some adjustments, I was able to get it working smoothly. The process involved setting up the API connection, configuring the vehicle details, and ensuring the Home Assistant instance could communicate with the NissanConnect servers.

One of the key features I’ve been enjoying is the ability to monitor and control my vehicle directly from the Home Assistant dashboard. I can now check the battery level, preheat the cabin, and even lock or unlock the car—all from my phone or the web interface. It’s incredibly convenient, especially during the colder months when I want to ensure the car is warm before heading out.

I also set up some automations. For instance, if my daily commute is detected via geolocation, the car starts preheating 30 minutes before departure. It’s these small touches that really make the integration feel seamless and useful.

If anyone is looking to do something similar, I’d recommend checking out the GitHub repository I set up. It includes detailed installation instructions and some troubleshooting tips I picked up along the way. The community support has been amazing, and I’m excited to see how this project evolves!

Here’s to smarter, more connected vehicles! :red_car::zap:
