Initially, I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of devices and the different ecosystems they operate in. However, with some research and experimentation, I managed to create a seamless setup. For the exterior lighting, I opted for Philips Hue Lightstrips and color bulbs, which provide vibrant and customizable ambiance. Indoors, Homematic IP handles the essential lighting and roller shutter controls, ensuring energy efficiency and convenience.
One challenge I faced was coordinating the motion sensors for both systems. I wanted them to work together seamlessly, especially in areas like the garage. After some trial and error, I discovered that using the Homematic IP app allowed me to assign sensors to both security and lighting groups, which solved the issue beautifully.
