Successfully Integrating Securifi Water Sensor with OpenHAB

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent success in integrating the Securifi Water Sensor SZ-WTD02N with OpenHAB. Initially, I was a bit overwhelmed by the setup process, but with some research and the help of this community, everything fell into place.First, I discovered the Securifi Water Sensor at Home Depot for under $30. It’s a budget-friendly option that doesn’t skimp on functionality. However, I wanted to connect it to my existing OpenHAB setup for seamless monitoring. That’s where the challenge began. After some digging, I found a helpful GitHub repository that provided the necessary Device Handler code. The process involved adding the sensor to the Device Handlers page on my SmartThings account and then pairing it through the SmartThings mobile app. The sensor was detected almost immediately after inserting the batteries, which was a relief!Once paired, I faced the task of integrating it into OpenHAB. I stumbled upon a fantastic guide that walked me through the steps of configuring the sensor within OpenHAB’s framework. This included setting up the correct item definitions and rules to ensure real-time updates and notifications. The most rewarding part was customizing the interface. I created a simple dashboard using OpenHAB’s visualization tools, which now displays the water sensor status alongside other key metrics. It’s incredibly satisfying to see everything working in harmony. This experience taught me the importance of community support and thorough documentation. If anyone else is looking to integrate a Securifi Water Sensor or similar devices, I highly recommend exploring OpenHAB’s capabilities—it’s a powerful platform once you get the hang of it.Thanks to everyone who contributed to the resources that made this possible! :raised_hands:
