Successfully Integrating Shelly and Google Home for Seamless Smart Camera Viewing

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent success in integrating my Shelly devices with Google Home, particularly for viewing my IP cameras via Chromecast. This journey was a bit of a learning curve, but I’m thrilled to have it working smoothly now!

I started by purchasing some Hikvision IP cameras and decided to use Blue Iris for my video management. My goal was to be able to cast these cameras to any TV with a Chromecast using my Google Home. At first, I wasn’t sure how to bridge everything together, but after some research, I discovered that WebCore could be the key to automating this process.

The setup involved configuring Blue Iris to work seamlessly with my network and ensuring that the Chromecast devices were properly recognized by Google Home. I spent some time tweaking the rules in WebCore to make sure the casting worked effortlessly with voice commands. It was a bit trial and error, but the satisfaction of getting it all to work was worth every moment!

One thing I’d like to mention is the importance of a stable network connection. I had to ensure that my router was up to the task and that there were no interference issues. Once that was sorted, everything fell into place.

I’d love to hear how others have integrated their smart cameras and automation systems. Have you found any particularly effective tools or apps that I might have missed? Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other optimize our smart home setups!

Cheers,
