I’ve recently embarked on a journey to integrate smart lighting across multiple brands in my home, and I must say, it’s been an enlightening experience! 
Starting with Philips Hue, I’ve always been impressed by their seamless integration and vibrant color options. However, I wanted to expand my setup to include some budget-friendly options without compromising on quality. That’s when I discovered Wyze and LIFX. The challenge was ensuring all these devices could work harmoniously together.
After some research and trial and error, I found that using a smart hub like the Hubitat Elevation made all the difference. It allowed me to create a unified system where I could control all my lights from one app. The best part? I even managed to set up routines that adapt to my daily schedule—dimming the lights in the evening and automatically turning them off when I go to bed.
One unexpected hurdle was ensuring all devices were on the same network and communicating effectively. I learned the importance of a strong Wi-Fi signal and the benefits of using a mesh network for better coverage. A quick tweak to my router settings and replacing some older Wi-Fi extenders solved most connectivity issues.
I also experimented with different automation scenarios. For instance, my porch lights now automatically adjust their brightness based on the time of day and motion detection. It’s been a great way to enhance security without being too intrusive.
