I recently embarked on a journey to integrate a smart lighting system into my home, and I must say, it’s been an enlightening experience! 
Starting with the basics, I wanted to automate my lighting to create a cozy ambiance in the evenings and ensure energy efficiency. However, the process wasn’t without its hurdles, and I thought I’d share my journey and some tips I picked up along the way.
Initially, I faced some issues with my Shelly Button not responding when connected via USB. While the LED indicated it was powered, nothing seemed to happen. After some research and trial and error, I discovered that ensuring a stable USB connection was key. Sometimes, a simple reconnection or using a different port made all the difference!
Another challenge I encountered was with the PN532 RFID reader. I kept getting a ‘Timed out waiting for readiness’ error. After spending hours reviewing logs and checking connections, I realized the importance of proper I2C bus recovery and ensuring the RF field was correctly initialized. Patience and methodical troubleshooting were my best allies here.
One of the most rewarding parts of this project was setting up smooth RGB lighting transitions. I experimented with different color schemes and found that using predefined scenes made it easier to achieve the desired effects. It’s amazing how a little experimentation can transform your space!
I also came across some fantastic community resources, like detailed tutorials and forums, where users shared their experiences and solutions. These communities are invaluable, and I’m grateful for the support they provide to newcomers like me.
