I wanted to share my recent success in integrating my TP-Link Kasa HS200 smart switch with Home Assistant. Initially, I faced some challenges, but with a bit of troubleshooting, everything worked out smoothly!
The Challenge:
I was trying to connect my Kasa switch to my Home Assistant instance, which runs behind a remote URL. I wasn’t sure if the remote setup was causing issues, and I also struggled to find the device’s IP address on my network. The “Host” field in the integration left me puzzled, and leaving it empty didn’t help either.
The Solution:
After some research, I discovered that using the device’s mDNS name instead of the IP address could work. I also made sure that my HA instance had proper access to the network. Once I entered the correct host details, the integration went through without a hitch!
Tips for Others:
- Check your device’s mDNS name if you’re unsure of the IP address.
- Ensure your HA instance has the right network permissions.
- Don’t hesitate to consult the community forums or official documentation for guidance.
It’s amazing how a little persistence and the right information can turn a frustrating issue into a smooth setup. Happy integrating everyone! ![]()
