Successfully Integrating Tuya Zigbee Switches with Sonoff Bridge

I recently faced a challenge with integrating Tuya zigbee switches into my smart home setup. Initially, I was frustrated because the Tuya integration in Home Assistant only worked through the cloud, which wasn’t ideal for my local setup. However, after some research and experimentation, I found a fantastic workaround using a Sonoff bridge with Tasmota firmware!

The process involved flashing the Sonoff bridge with Tasmota, which allowed me to connect it to my Zigbee network. Once the bridge was set up, I was able to integrate the Tuya switches into Home Assistant using the ZHA (Zigbee Home Automation) integration. This not only eliminated the need for cloud dependency but also provided a more reliable and local connection.

Here’s a quick summary of the steps I took:

  1. Flashed the Sonoff Bridge: I used the Tasmota firmware to transform the Sonoff bridge into a Zigbee coordinator.
  2. Integrated with ZHA: After setting up the bridge, I configured Home Assistant to recognize it as a Zigbee controller.
  3. Added Tuya Switches: The Tuya switches were then paired with the Sonoff bridge, allowing them to communicate seamlessly with Home Assistant.

The success of this setup has been transformative for my smart home. It’s incredible how a little creativity and problem-solving can lead to such a satisfying outcome. If anyone else is struggling with similar issues, I highly recommend exploring the Tasmota and ZHA combination—it’s a game-changer!

Happy automating! :star2:
