Hello everyone, I recently embarked on a journey to set up my smart home system using the Vera Plus controller along with a variety of Fibaro sensors. It’s been an exciting experience, though not without its challenges. I thought I’d share my journey and some tips for anyone looking to integrate these devices.Initially, I was a bit puzzled when the Fibaro Gen5 sensors connected but displayed strange names like ‘Lux sensor’ and ‘IO sensors’. I wasn’t sure if this was normal, especially since I was new to Vera. However, after some research on forums, I discovered that the Fibaro Gen5 wasn’t fully supported by Vera at the time. This was a bit disheartening, but I didn’t let it stop me.I decided to proceed by exploring workarounds and community solutions. It turns out that updating the Vera firmware and ensuring the sensors were correctly paired helped alleviate some issues. One of the sensors was consistently showing red on the dashboard, which I later found was a default alert status upon connection. Dismissing this alert resolved the issue.Throughout this process, I was impressed by the support from the Vera and Fibaro communities. Their forums and documentation were invaluable resources. I also found that using Vera’s built-in automation features allowed me to create a seamless smart home experience despite some initial hiccups.Reflecting on this experience, I’m grateful for the community’s assistance and the robustness of Vera and Fibaro devices. They’ve significantly enhanced my home’s functionality. To anyone starting out, I’d recommend thorough research, patience, and leveraging community support. Happy smart home building!
