Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating Wyze and Blink cameras across multiple locations. As a frequent traveler, having seamless access to my cameras is essential, and I’ve learned a few tricks along the way!
My Setup:
-
Wyze Cam v3: I have two units in the Caribbean and six in Canada. The Canadian units work flawlessly both locally and when accessed from the Caribbean. However, the Caribbean units occasionally show an error code 90 when accessed from further distances. After some research, I found that ensuring a stable internet connection and using cellular data for remote access helps mitigate this issue.
-
Blink Module: I recently added Blink cameras to my setup. Initially, I faced some connectivity issues, but contacting Blink support resolved them quickly. The integration with my existing system has been smooth, and I appreciate the ease of use and reliability Blink offers.
Tips for Multi-Location Integration:
- Check Internet Stability: Ensure all locations have a reliable internet connection. Using cellular data as a backup has been a lifesaver for me.
- Regular Firmware Updates: Keep all devices updated to the latest firmware to benefit from the latest features and bug fixes.
- Use VPN with Caution: While VPNs are great for security, I’ve noticed some apps, like Wyze, can have issues connecting over VPN. Testing different VPN providers or disabling the VPN for specific apps can help.
- Cross-Platform Compatibility: Both Wyze and Blink integrate well with popular smart home platforms like Home Assistant, making it easy to create automations and routines.
My Experience with Govee DIYs:
I’ve also been experimenting with Govee DIY projects, particularly their light bars. I was initially surprised at how hidden these DIY options were in their app, but once I found them, the possibilities were endless. Customizing my TV setup with Govee light bars has been a fantastic addition to my home theater experience!
Challenges and Solutions:
One challenge I faced was ensuring consistent performance across different locations. By carefully selecting hardware and optimizing my network setup, I’ve managed to create a robust system that meets my needs.
I’d love to hear if others have similar setups or have encountered and overcome different challenges. Let’s continue to share our experiences and tips to help each other improve our smart home setups!
Cheers,
