Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts! I wanted to share my recent experience integrating Wyze bulbs into my smart home setup and how I overcame some initial challenges. ![]()
A few weeks ago, I decided to upgrade my lighting system with Wyze bulbs, specifically the Wyze Bulb Color BR30. I was excited about their vibrant color options and energy efficiency. However, I encountered a few bumps along the way. The bulbs would occasionally turn on randomly at night, which was both confusing and a bit annoying. After some research, I realized that the issue might be related to firmware. Luckily, Wyze released a firmware update (1.0.1.38) that addressed this problem. Updating the bulbs was a breeze, and since then, they’ve been working perfectly! ![]()
Another challenge I faced was with my MQTT setup. After updating Home Assistant to version 2022.2, some of my lights started throwing errors. The logs indicated that the value_template option had been removed, which I wasn’t aware of. After some digging, I discovered that the configuration needed to be updated to remove this option. I adjusted the relevant MQTT configurations, and everything started working smoothly again. It was a good reminder to keep an eye on Home Assistant’s release notes for any breaking changes. ![]()
