Successfully Integrating Wyze Cam and Sprinkler for Wildlife Deterrence

I recently faced an issue with wildlife, particularly rabbits and crows, causing disturbances in my garden. After some research, I discovered a clever solution using my Wyze Cam v3 and Wyze sprinkler controller. Here’s how I set it up and the results I achieved.First, I installed a 12mm focal length lens on my Wyze Cam to get a more zoomed-in view of the garden. This helped in accurately detecting the wildlife without false triggers. Next, I configured the sprinkler system to activate whenever the camera detected motion. The key was ensuring the sprinkler’s coverage area overlapped with the camera’s field of view, creating a seamless deterrent system.I was amazed at how effective this setup was. The sprinklers would activate precisely when wildlife approached, effectively scaring them away. My dog and I also appreciated not getting wet unnecessarily, as the system was calibrated to avoid false triggers from our movements. However, I noticed that the Wyze app’s AI didn’t recognize wildlife events, leading to occasional unintended activations. To address this, I reached out to Wyze support, offering to provide training data for better wildlife recognition. Their response was positive, showing they’re open to enhancing their AI features based on user feedback. This project taught me the importance of combining different smart devices to create a tailored solution. It also highlighted the potential of community input in improving smart home technologies. I’m excited to see how Wyze can further develop their AI to better serve users like me.If anyone has similar experiences or tips on integrating cameras and sprinklers, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
