I recently set up two Wyze Cam Pan cameras in my home and was initially disappointed when motion detection wasn’t working as expected. The green boxes indicating motion tracking, which I saw in demo videos, simply weren’t appearing. I tried adjusting sensitivity settings, moving the cameras, and even reinstalling the firmware, but nothing seemed to work. It was frustrating, especially since sound-based alerts were functioning fine.
After some research and reaching out to the community, I discovered that the issue might be related to the camera placement and lighting conditions. I decided to try a few adjustments:
-
Repositioning the Cameras: I moved the cameras to areas with better lighting and less direct sunlight, which seemed to help.
-
Adjusting Settings: I lowered the sensitivity setting to 50% and enabled the advanced motion detection feature in the Wyze app.
-
Testing with Objects: I placed small objects in the camera’s field of view to test if it would detect movement. It worked!
-
Firmware Update: Ensuring the cameras were on the latest firmware also made a difference.
Now, the motion detection works perfectly, and I even set up some automation rules in Home Assistant to trigger lights and notifications when motion is detected. It’s amazing how a few tweaks can make such a big difference!
If you’re having similar issues, I recommend trying these steps before giving up. The Wyze Cam Pan is a great device once everything is set up properly. Happy automating! ![]()
