Successfully Integrating Xiaomi Aqara Motion Sensors with Home Assistant

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating Xiaomi Aqara Motion Sensors with Home Assistant. I’ve been curious about leveraging the lux attribute for better lighting automation, but I wasn’t sure how to access it within Home Assistant.

Initially, I noticed that while the Xiaomi Home app displayed the lux values clearly, Home Assistant only showed binary sensor data like ‘No motion since’ and battery levels. I was determined to unlock that lux data for more dynamic lighting adjustments.

After some research and reaching out to the community, I discovered that the lux attribute is indeed available but requires a specific configuration. By tweaking my sensor setup and utilizing Home Assistant’s developer tools, I managed to access the lux values and integrate them into my automations.

This integration has been a game-changer for my smart home setup. Now, my lights adjust based on real-time ambient light levels, creating a seamless and energy-efficient environment. It’s amazing how a little tweak can make such a big difference!

If anyone else is looking to do something similar, I’d be happy to share my configuration details. Happy automating! :rocket:
