Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience integrating Zigbee motion sensors with my Hubitat setup. After some initial challenges, I managed to get everything working smoothly, and I thought it might be helpful to others facing similar issues.Last month, I purchased a Tuya-branded Zigbee motion sensor, excited to add it to my smart home setup. However, upon installation, I noticed that while the sensor detected motion perfectly, the battery percentage remained stubbornly stuck at 100%. This was a bit concerning, as I rely on accurate battery readings to plan maintenance and avoid unexpected outages.I started by checking the device settings within Hubitat, hitting the ‘Configure’ and ‘Refresh’ buttons repeatedly, but nothing changed. I began to wonder if this was a common issue or if there was a workaround. After some research, I discovered that battery updates for Zigbee devices can sometimes be delayed, especially if the device is in a low-power mode. This made sense, as the sensor was designed to conserve battery life by only transmitting data when necessary. To address this, I decided to adjust the sensor’s settings. I found that by enabling more frequent status updates, the battery percentage would refresh more regularly. This involved a bit of trial and error, but eventually, I found the right balance between battery life and accurate monitoring.Another thing I learned was the importance of using the correct driver for Zigbee devices. After some experimentation, I found a driver that improved battery reporting significantly. This not only gave me peace of mind but also allowed me to better plan when to replace batteries in the future.Reflecting on this experience, I realize how much I’ve learned about Zigbee devices and their behavior. It’s been a valuable lesson in patience and persistence, and I’m glad I didn’t give up on the sensor. Now that everything is working smoothly, I’m looking forward to expanding my smart home setup with more Zigbee devices in the future. If anyone else is dealing with similar issues, I’d recommend checking the device settings, ensuring you’re using the latest drivers, and giving the system some time to adjust. Happy smart home tinkering! ![]()
