I recently got my hands on a Wyze thermostat and wanted to share my experience with locking the temperature controls. If you’ve ever dealt with family members or roommates adjusting the thermostat when they shouldn’t, you’ll appreciate this solution!
After setting up my Wyze thermostat, I was curious if it had a feature similar to Honeywell’s lock functionality. I reached out to the Wyze support team and did some digging in the app settings. Turns out, while there isn’t a built-in lock feature, there’s a clever workaround using the Wyze app’s scene automation!
Here’s what I did:
- Set Up Scenes: I created two scenes—one for heating and one for cooling—each with the temperature set to my preferred levels.
- Disable Manual Adjustments: By configuring the thermostat to only respond to scene triggers, I effectively locked out manual temperature changes.
- Test It Out: So far, it’s been working perfectly! My thermostat stays at the set temperature unless I manually trigger the scenes.
