Successfully Migrating Devices and Troubleshooting Sensors

Hi all, I wanted to share my recent experiences with migrating devices to a new hub and troubleshooting some sensor issues. Moving all my devices to the new C8 was a bit daunting at first, but I managed to do it by performing a cloud migration backup and restoring it on the C8. I also did a factory reset on the C7 to start fresh. It worked out smoothly, and now everything is running like clockwork on the new hub! :tada:

However, I ran into a snag with my Third Reality zigbee door sensor. It paired fine, but the hub wasn’t responding to any events. After digging through the logs, I found some error messages about a NumberFormatException. I tried reaching out to support, but they weren’t much help. Eventually, I had to troubleshoot it myself and found that resetting the sensor andé‡ę–°é…åÆ¹ helped resolve the issue. Whew, that was a relief! :rocket:

I also wanted to share a tip for anyone dealing with faulty Z-Wave switches. I had an old GE in-wall switch that stopped responding. Instead of re-adding it to all my routines and automations from scratch, I discovered that SmartThings has a ā€˜Replace’ feature in the settings. By following a few steps—turning off the power, removing the old device, installing the new one, and letting the app handle the rest—I was able to swap it out seamlessly. The new switch picked up all the old routines without any issues! It’s such a time-saver. :blush:
