Successfully Migrating from ioBroker to Home Assistant with Zigbee2MQTT Integration

I’ve been on a journey to transition from ioBroker to Home Assistant (HA) and it’s been quite an adventure! One of the biggest challenges has been integrating my existing Zigbee2MQTT setup into HA. I’ve got around 50 devices running smoothly on ioBroker, and the idea of relearning everything was daunting. But, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve managed to bridge the gap successfully!

Here’s a quick overview of my setup:

  • VM 1: Running ioBroker and Zigbee2MQTT on Proxmox with IP 192.168.179.220.
  • VM 2: Home Assistant installed on 192.168.179.29.

The goal was to keep my Zigbee2MQTT setup intact while leveraging HA’s powerful features. After hours of research and trial and error, I found that using the HA Add-On “Zigbee2MQTT Proxy” was the key. It not only displays the Zigbee2MQTT interface but also seamlessly integrates with HA’s ecosystem.

One hiccup I encountered was configuring the MQTT integration in HA. Initially, it seemed like a dead end, but after tweaking the settings and ensuring the correct MQTT broker details were entered, everything started working like clockwork. The satisfaction of seeing all my devices recognized without reconfiguration was immense!

For anyone else looking to make the switch, here’s a tip: start by verifying your MQTT connection in HA. If that’s solid, the rest falls into place. Also, exploring the HA community forums has been invaluable. The support and shared knowledge there are phenomenal.

This migration has been a rewarding experience, and I’m excited to continue exploring all that HA has to offer. It’s empowering to have all my devices working harmoniously under one platform, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Happy HA-ing everyone! :star2:
