Successfully Migrating Homematic IP and Open CCU After SD Card Crash

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my experience after a recent challenge I faced with my Homematic IP and Open CCU setup. A few weeks ago, I encountered an SD card crash on my CCU, which forced me to switch to an SSD. Unfortunately, I only had backups from the Core, which meant I had to reinstall both Homematic IP and Open CCU from scratch.

At first, I was a bit overwhelmed because Open CCU didn’t recognize any devices, while Homematic IP Local did show some of my devices. I decided to try configuring the data for Open CCU manually by entering the host and access details. However, the system seemed stuck on ‘Backend Recognition,’ and I wasn’t making progress.

After some research and reaching out to the community, I realized that a complete factory reset of the Open CCU might be necessary. This was a bit daunting, but it turned out to be the right approach. I reinstalled everything, carefully followed the setup guides, and slowly started adding my devices back one by one. It was a tedious process, but it gave me a fresh start and a better understanding of how the systems interact.

I also learned the importance of regular, comprehensive backups. Since then, I’ve set up a more robust backup routine to avoid such issues in the future. It’s been a valuable learning experience, and I’m grateful for the support from the community. If anyone else is facing similar challenges, don’t hesitate to ask for help—there are plenty of resources and friendly folks ready to assist!

Happy automating! :rocket:
