Hi everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience of migrating some Hue bulbs from my Hue bridge to Hubitat. I’ve been thinking about reducing reliance on external hubs, and this seemed like a good opportunity to try it out. I have to say, the process was surprisingly smooth!
First, I carefully selected a few bulbs that weren’t acting as repeaters for other Zigbee devices, as I knew that could cause issues. I followed the instructions to delete them from the Hue app, which put them into pairing mode. Hubitat picked them up instantly as Generic Zigbee Bulbs, and they’re working perfectly!
One thing I’m curious about is the behavior of these bulbs during power outages. When they were connected to the Hue bridge, I had them set to retain their last settings. But now that they’re on Hubitat, I noticed that one bulb turned on after a power cut, even though it was previously off. I’d love to find a way to maintain the off state during such events, but I couldn’t find any settings in the Generic driver. Has anyone else encountered this and found a solution?
I’d love to hear from others who have made the switch to direct Hubitat control. What tips or tricks do you have? It would be great to learn more about optimizing these bulbs for different scenarios. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
