Successfully Pairing Aeotec Multisensor 6 with Z-Wave Bulb

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my experience with setting up the Aeotec Multisensor 6 alongside a Z-Wave bulb for my outdoor porch light. It was a bit of a puzzle at first, but I managed to get everything working smoothly. Here’s how I did it: First, I placed the Multisensor 6 outside without a power supply, relying on its battery life. It’s a Z-Wave Plus device, so I knew it should work seamlessly with my SmartThings hub. The challenge was getting it to communicate effectively with the Z-Wave bulb inside the glass jar fitting. I started by ensuring both devices were properly added to my SmartThings ecosystem. The Multisensor 6 needed to be in inclusion mode, which I did by holding down the button until the LED started flashing. Once it was paired, I moved on to the Z-Wave bulb. I used the SmartThings app to add the bulb, making sure it was in pairing mode as well. The next step was configuring the automation rules. I wanted the light to turn on when motion was detected and turn off after a set period of inactivity. Using the SmartThings routines feature, I set up a rule where the Multisensor 6’s motion detection triggers the bulb to switch on. For the automatic shutoff, I added a delay in the routine, which turns the light off after 15 minutes if no further motion is detected. One thing I was concerned about was the glass jar affecting the PIR sensor’s range. To address this, I positioned the Multisensor 6 slightly higher and angled it towards the area I wanted to monitor. This adjustment helped ensure reliable detection despite the glass obstruction. After some trial and error, the setup worked perfectly! The light now activates seamlessly when motion is detected, and it turns off automatically after the set time. It’s been a great addition to my outdoor security setup. If anyone is looking to achieve a similar setup, I’d recommend starting with ensuring all devices are properly paired and experimenting with different placements to optimize sensor performance. Happy smartening! :rocket:
