Successfully Pairing Jasco 12721 Outlets - Tips and Tricks

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my experience with pairing the Jasco 12721 outlets with the SmartThings hub. Initially, I found the process quite challenging, but after some trial and error, I figured out a reliable method that worked perfectly for me. Here’s what I did:

  1. Plug in a Powered Device: I started by plugging a lamp into the lower (Z-Wave controlled) receptacle. This helped me test the functionality and ensure power was flowing correctly.

  2. Cycle the Power: I cycled the power using the push button on the outlet. This step was crucial for establishing a stable connection.

  3. Test the Upper Receptacle: After cycling the power, I moved the lamp to the upper (non-controlled) receptacle. The light turned on, indicating that the outlet was receiving power correctly.

  4. Return to the Lower Receptacle: I then moved the lamp back to the lower receptacle. The push button now successfully toggled the light switch, confirming that the outlet was functioning as intended.

  5. Pairing via the SmartThings App: Finally, I opened the SmartThings app, navigated to ‘Add Thing’, and selected ‘Lights & Switches’ → ‘Outlets’ → ‘Jasco’ → ‘Jasco In-Wall Outlet’. I pressed the button on the receptacle, and voilà! The outlet was successfully paired.

This method worked seamlessly for both outlets I installed. I hope this detailed walkthrough helps others avoid the frustration I initially encountered. Happy pairing! :rocket:
