Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Wyze Cam V2 and how I managed to recover it after it seemed bricked. I hope this helps someone else who might be facing a similar issue.
A little over a year ago, I purchased a Wyze Cam V2. The setup went smoothly at first, but disaster struck when it prompted me for a firmware update. After the update, the camera stopped working entirely. It had power, but it wouldn’t connect to the Wyze app or respond to any inputs. I left it aside, thinking it was a lost cause.
Fast forward to this month, I decided to give it another shot. I read through some forums and discovered that a manual firmware update using an SD card might be the solution. Here’s what I did:
- Download the Firmware: I found the latest firmware for the Wyze Cam V2 on the Wyze official website.
- Prepare the SD Card: I formatted an SD card and placed the firmware file in the root directory.
- Insert the SD Card: With the camera powered off, I inserted the SD card into the camera’s slot.
- Power On and Hold the Setup Button: I powered on the camera and held the setup button until the LED started blinking rapidly.
- Wait for the Update: The camera took a while to recognize the SD card and start the update. I kept it plugged in and waited patiently.
- Success!: After about 30 minutes, the camera rebooted, and it was back online in the Wyze app!
If you’re facing a similar issue, don’t give up. The manual firmware update method worked for me, and I’m thrilled to have my camera back up and running. It’s a great reminder to always double-check firmware updates before installing them, but if things go south, there’s still hope!
Happy smart home tinkering everyone! ![]()
