Successfully Resolving Nabu Casa Integration with Google Home

After a year of seamless integration between Home Assistant (Nabu Casa) and Google Home, I encountered an unexpected issue where the Nabu Casa integration suddenly disappeared from the Google Home app. This was concerning as it affected my ability to control devices via my Nest Hubs. Here’s how I navigated through the problem:

The Issue:

  • The Nabu Casa integration was missing from the ‘Works with Google’ menu.
  • Devices still functioned but couldn’t be updated or managed.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Uninstall and Reinstall Google Home App: This didn’t resolve the issue.
  2. Unlink and Relink Nabu Casa: The integration remained elusive.
  3. Clear Cache and Data: Performed on both Google Home and Nabu Casa apps.
  4. Factory Reset Google Home Hub: This was a last-ditch effort but proved successful.

Resolution:- After a factory reset of my Google Home Hub, the Nabu Casa integration reappeared in the Google Home app.

  • All previously linked devices were restored, and new entities could be exposed.

Key Takeaway:
If faced with a similar issue, consider resetting your Google Home Hub as a potential solution. It’s a minor inconvenience that can restore full functionality.

This experience reinforced the importance of patience and systematic troubleshooting in maintaining smart home integrations. Happy automating everyone!
