Successfully Resolving Wyze Cam Night Vision Cycling Issue

I wanted to share my experience with the Wyze Cam V2 night vision cycling issue, which I encountered recently. It was quite frustrating to see the IR filter flipping on and off endlessly, especially during dawn or in dim lighting conditions. This behavior disrupted the smooth operation of my security setup, and I knew I had to find a solution. After some research, I discovered that others were experiencing similar issues. The consensus was that the dynamic night vision switching algorithm lacked sufficient hysteresis, causing the filter to toggle rapidly in environments with uneven lighting. This made perfect sense, as my camera was positioned in a hallway where light levels can vary significantly.I decided to take matters into my own hands. I reached out to Wyze support, explaining the issue and suggesting the addition of a ‘cool down’ period to prevent the endless cycling. To my delight, they responded promptly and acknowledged the problem. They mentioned that they were already working on a firmware update to address this very issue. In the meantime, I implemented a temporary workaround by adjusting the camera’s position to ensure more consistent lighting in its field of view. This helped reduce the frequency of the cycling but wasn’t a complete fix. However, it was a helpful stopgap measure while waiting for the official update. Finally, the new firmware update arrived, and after installing it, the issue was resolved! The update introduced the necessary hysteresis, and the camera now switches between day and night vision modes smoothly without the endless toggling. It’s a relief to have a reliable security camera again. This experience taught me the importance of community feedback and the value of persistence when dealing with technical issues. I’m grateful to Wyze for their responsiveness and for continuously improving their products based on user input. If anyone else is experiencing similar issues, I recommend reaching out to support and providing detailed feedback. Your input can make a difference in future updates and improvements.
