Successfully Setting Up a Smart Home with Multiple Brands

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my recent experience setting up a smart home with devices from multiple brands. While it was a bit of a challenge at first, I managed to get everything working smoothly!

First, I started with the basics—installing Zigbee devices like smart switches and sensors. I used the built-in radio on my Home Assistant Yellow and migrated my Conbee II setup. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but once everything was set up, I was amazed at how seamless the integration was. Most of my devices are now online and responding perfectly to my commands.

However, I did run into a few hiccups. Some of my sensors weren’t showing up initially, but after a bit of troubleshooting and checking the logs, I realized it was a simple firmware update issue. Once that was sorted, everything fell into place!

Another thing I’ve been experimenting with is setting up a playlist for my Google Home speakers to play a relaxing rain sound. I created an automation that triggers every 10 minutes, ensuring the sound never stops. It’s been a great way to create a calming atmosphere in my home.

I’d love to hear from others who have successfully integrated multiple brands into their smart homes. What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them? Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
