I’ve recently been diving into automating my home security, and I wanted to share my experience with setting up automatic door locking. It’s been a fascinating process, and I’ve learned a lot along the way!
I started by installing a Keymatic motor unit on my front door, paired with a magnet contact sensor. My goal was to have the door lock automatically between 10 PM and 6 AM, even if it was opened during that time. Initially, everything worked smoothly, but after a few days, I noticed some unexpected behavior—sometimes the door would stay unlocked overnight, or it would lock excessively during the day.
After some troubleshooting, I realized the issue was with the CCU2 configuration. I had to adjust the timing settings and ensure the magnet contact sensor was properly calibrated. Once I made these changes, the system started working perfectly again!
This experience taught me the importance of double-checking sensor calibrations and timing settings, especially when dealing with automated security systems. It’s also been a great reminder to regularly test my home automation setups to catch any potential issues early on.
