Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent success in setting up a Govee smart LED strip to cycle through colors using a pico remote. It was a bit of a challenge at first, but I finally got it working smoothly. ![]()
The Goal:
I wanted to press the center button on my pico remote to cycle through predefined colors—red, green, blue, and back to red. This would add a fun and customizable lighting effect to my space. However, figuring out the right rule setup was a bit tricky.
The Process:
After some research and trial and error, I discovered that creating a custom rule within the Govee app was the way to go. Here’s what I did:
- Defined the Colors: I set up each color (red, green, blue) as separate scenes in the app. This made it easier to reference them in the rule.
- Created the Rule: I programmed the center button to trigger a sequence that cycles through these scenes. Each press advances to the next color, and it loops back to red after blue.
- Testing: I tested the setup multiple times to ensure it worked seamlessly. The LED strip now changes colors perfectly with each button press!
Tips for Others:
- Start Simple: If you’re new to creating rules, start with basic commands before moving on to more complex sequences.
- Use Scenes: Defining scenes for each color makes it easier to manage and reference in your rules.
- Experiment: Don’t be afraid to tweak your settings and test different configurations until you find what works best for you.
Outcome:
This setup has completely transformed my space! It’s now more dynamic and fun, especially during gatherings. Plus, my family loves how easy it is to change the ambiance with just a press of a button. ![]()
