Successfully Setting Up Wyze Cam Outdoor with SD Cards

I recently got my hands on the Wyze Cam Outdoor starter kit and decided to set it up with some high-capacity SD cards. Initially, I was a bit puzzled when the camera and base station didn’t seem to recognize the formatted cards properly. After some research and trial and error, I managed to get everything working smoothly! Here’s what I learned:

  1. SD Card Compatibility: I started with a 32GB card for the camera and a 128GB for the base station. While the camera worked fine after formatting, the base station had some issues with the larger card. I realized that sometimes smaller cards (like 64GB) might be more reliable for the base station, especially if you’re planning to expand your setup later.

  2. Formatting and Setup: Formatting the cards directly through the Wyze app was the key. I made sure to follow the app’s instructions step by step, and it worked perfectly for the camera. For the base station, I had to restart the setup process a couple of times, but persistence paid off!

  3. Recording and Backup: Once everything was set up, I was thrilled to see the camera recording smoothly and the base station backing up the footage without any hiccups. It’s such a relief to know that my recordings are safe and accessible even if the camera gets tampered with.

  4. Tips for Others: If you’re planning to use multiple cameras and base stations, I’d recommend testing each component individually before integrating them. Also, consider using cards of similar capacities for consistency across your setup.

It’s been a great learning experience, and I’m now confident in expanding my Wyze Cam setup even further. If anyone has questions or needs help with their setup, feel free to reach out—I’d be happy to share more tips!
