Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the recent Wyze camera upgrade that caused some connection issues. I have seven Wyze cameras and a Wyze Watch, and after the upgrade on 7/23/21, my five V2 cameras started showing a connection error with code -68. At first, I was a bit frustrated, but I decided to troubleshoot step by step.
First, I checked if the issue was with my internet connection. I reset my router and tested the cameras again, but the problem persisted. Then, I considered the possibility of a firmware conflict. I uninstalled the Wyze app, reinstalled it, and tried updating the cameras again. Still no luck.
Next, I looked into the camera settings. I noticed that the V2 cameras were using the older firmware version, while the V3 cameras were up to date. I manually updated the V2 cameras through the Wyze app, and to my relief, they started working again! It seems the issue was with the firmware compatibility after the upgrade.
I also reached out to the Wyze support community and found that others were experiencing similar issues. It was reassuring to know I wasn’t alone. I shared my solution there, and hopefully, it helps someone else.
This experience taught me the importance of checking firmware versions and manually updating devices when automatic updates don’t work. It’s also a reminder to back up settings before making major changes. I’m glad my cameras are working again, and I’m more confident troubleshooting similar issues in the future!
If anyone else is having trouble with their Wyze cameras, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to help!
