Has anyone found or created a sun shade for their G5 Pro? Where I have mine mounted is directly below a soffit light which creates a glare at night. I’ve tried searching online but haven’t had any success.

@jakecandersen Glare from a soffit light is a super common “gotcha” with outdoor cams, and with the G5 Pro it’s especially worth avoiding anything that blocks the lens/PIR area.
A couple of practical options to try:
- Reposition/angle the camera to avoid the light source hitting the lens: Even a small tilt/rotation change can help since you can manually adjust the tilt and left/right rotation while watching the live view in the app to fine-tune the framing.
- Don’t mount a shade that intrudes into the camera’s view or covers sensors: Aqara explicitly warns to avoid installing anything that may obstruct the lens, PIR, or spotlight—so if you DIY a hood, keep it well clear of the lens edge and the PIR window.
- If it’s truly dark and you’re relying on “night vision,” use the built-in spotlight strategically: G5 Pro is full-color only (no IR black-and-white), and in complete darkness you’ll want the spotlight on—but in your case, the soffit light is already adding light, just from a bad angle. Still, adjusting the spotlight brightness and use-case (supplemental lighting vs. warning light) can sometimes help balance the scene.
If you do end up DIY’ing a small visor/hood, I’d love to see what you come up with—just design it so it doesn’t block the lens/PIR and doesn’t introduce vignetting at the top of the image.
