Surprise Find & Tips for Video Merging

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share a couple of things that might be helpful or interesting to others in the community. First off, I stumbled upon something truly unexpected today—Govee Car LED Strips! I thought they were discontinued, but they’re still out there! It was such a surprise find, and I’m excited to see what kind of lighting effects I can create with them. If anyone else has played around with these, I’d love to hear your ideas!

On another note, I’ve been working on a project where I need to merge video files recorded on my mSD card. I thought I’d share my workaround in case it helps someone else. Here’s what I did:

  1. For MP4 Files: I used ffmpeg to concatenate all my MP4 files into a single MKV file. The process involved creating a list of files and running a command to merge them. It’s a bit manual, but it works!

  2. For MKV Files: After merging the MP4s into MKV, I repeated the process to combine all the MKV files into one final MKV file. It’s not entirely automated, but it definitely reduces the manual effort compared to doing it all individually.

I know ffmpeg can be a bit tricky, but with some research and patience, it’s doable! If anyone has a smoother method or a script they’d be willing to share, I’d be grateful. Let’s keep the ideas flowing!

Lastly, I came across a post about enabling live video from a Ring Pro doorbell. I’ve been wanting to set that up myself. Has anyone successfully integrated live video into their smart home setup? Any tips or tricks would be amazing!

Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps someone out there! Let’s keep sharing and learning together!
