Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with switching between different OpenHAB instances and some camera troubleshooting I recently encountered. Hopefully, this can help others facing similar issues!
First, regarding the OpenHAB instances: I have multiple instances set up for monitoring different parts of my home. However, switching between them required clearing the cache each time, which was a bit inconvenient. After some research and trial and error, I found that adjusting the settings in the Android app helped streamline the process. It was a bit frustrating at first, but figuring it out gave me a sense of accomplishment!
Now, onto the camera issue. I recently installed a Ring Floodlight Cam and wanted it to always stay on. I set up a rule in the lights automation where if the switch is turned off, it turns back on automatically. However, this only worked if I turned the switch off through the app, not physically. After some digging, I realized the switch was a two-way type, which complicated things. The master switch worked as intended, but the slave switch didn’t. I’m still trying to find a workaround, but it’s been a good learning experience about how different switches interact with smart systems.
I’d love to hear if anyone else has encountered similar issues or has tips for improving these setups. It’s always great to learn from the community!
Best regards,
