I’d like to share my setup and see if anyone has experienced something similar or can provide some insight.
I’ve installed several Aqara T2 modules to control two simple lighting circuits (single switches, no two-way switching). The installation works correctly overall:
The relay turns the lights on/off without issues from the app.
The physical wall switches also work as expected.
However, I’m noticing a fairly noticeable latency when using the physical switches, to the point where it becomes a bit uncomfortable in daily use.
My current setup:
Hub: Aqara M2
Connectivity: Zigbee
The T2 modules are installed inside standard wall boxes (not in a metal electrical panel)
Using traditional toggle switches (not momentary/push buttons)
I’ve tested both with and without load detection enabled
My main questions:
Is this level of latency normal for the T2, or should it be closer to instant?
Could this be related to Zigbee network quality (coverage, signal strength, routing)?
This is by design unfortunately, I have the same issue where there is roughly around 0.5 second delay.
I got over the problem using the Aqara Wireless Remote Switch H1
I removed the light switch and just WaGo’s the connection inside and then placed the Wireless H1 in place of the original switch. I then configured the switch to trigger the relays.
Probably not what you want to hear but there is no other way.
Alternatively you could replace the light switch with a H1 EU they do Neutral & No Neutral versions but as you have a T2 relay you would want the H1 EU (With Neutral) Double Rocker switch which is basically a relay attached to the switches.
Thank you very much for your feedback. I was trying to keep the T2s, sad to hear the latency is by design. I’ve been using Shelly 2 too and they have zero delay.
